KO-TSUSUMI DRUM
The Kotsusumi is a Japanese double-headed hand drum. This example dates from the late 19th Century and has an hour-glass shaped body, beautifully decorated with lacquered gold leaf motifs on the body, strung with cord. It was played by being placed horizontally under one arm and using the fingers. Both ends can be played. In overall good condition, the red cord was restored in 1978.
